Our Calendar Listings cover area events and fairs. The Vermont Traveler's Guide coveres area attractions. Try one of our Treasure Tours... visit your way around Vermont!: Our sample tour begins here, as every good adventure should, with a story. Ours is from the Farm at Morrison Corner, and is called: The Camilla Cup. We've routed this tour so it passes many a small Vermont antique shop... should you want to find your very own cup. You will begin your Treasure Tour by visiting the Cabot Cheese Factory outlet where you can sample all of their incredible cheeses.. just right for your next formal tea. In the same complex is Lake Champlain Chocolates. What tea is complete without a little chocolate on the side? These are the people who do gourmet truffles and decadent creams. Pass by the fudge.... you don't want to hurt yourself... Leaving Cabot Cheese, we'll route you to Montpelier, the smallest state capitol in the United States. You'll have an opportunity to tour the state house and appreciate its restored Victorian splendor, as well as visit the State Historical Museum. You can lunch at the Tunn Tavern, one of the oldest taverns in Vermont... or choose something a bit more modern: one of the restaurants run by the New England Culinary Institute. After lunch, you're off to Morse Farm... where you'll be picking up a complimentary bag of their pancake mix (widely regarded as one of the best mixes produced here in Vermont) and getting a tour of their maple sugar operation. Morse Farm is known for all things maple and does a fabulous "kettle corn" with a touch of salt and sugar.. very addictive! From Morse Farm you'll have a choice, to take the roads less traveled... or stay on the pavement. Both routes will carry you home, but the less traveled route goes through pond and bog country, where you have a reasonable chance of spotting a moose. And to end the day? A stop at a perennial farm which specializes in 16th, 17th and 18th century garden plants. These people are delighted to show you around their gardens and discuss their wonderful old herbs and flowers with you. Seeds, plants, and lore available at their little store. Then home to Blair Manor, having had an opportunity to visit some of Vermont's little known treasures... the stories and people that make this state unique and charming. Carriage rides, antiquing, or simply stopping for a lunch of savory soup on Main Street... Stowe does summer so wonderfully well you'll be sorry you have to leave, and understand why the locals consider summer Stowe's high season! |
